A Pierrot clown or character comes from the late 17th century and is of Italian origins.  This clown usually performs unmasked with or with out a white face.  They are often seen as a fool or a jester and is very trusting yet the butt of pranks.  They often depict a form of mutism and sometimes can be seen as a sad clown.
